⚠️Don't translate from your language — English collocations are often different from what you'd expect.

Strategy

💡Most answers are grammar words: prepositions, conjunctions, pronouns, articles, auxiliaries, or quantifiers.

💡Look for fixed phrases and collocations: "in spite of", "as well as", "due to", "apart from".

Common Mistakes

⚠️Only ONE word per gap. Contractions like "don't" count as two words.

⚠️Check your answer fits grammatically with the words on BOTH sides of the gap.

Read the text below. Use the word given in capitals at the end of some of the lines to form a word that fits in the gap in the same line.

Strategy

💡Decide what part of speech is needed: noun, adjective, adverb, or verb. Then consider whether it's positive or negative.

💡Check whether you need a negative prefix (un-, in-, im-, dis-), a plural, or a compound change (e.g. EMPLOY → unemployment).

Common Mistakes

⚠️Spelling matters! Double-check tricky suffixes: -tion/-sion, -ence/-ance, -ible/-able.

⚠️Some words need two changes: a prefix AND a suffix. Read the full sentence to check the meaning.

Complete the second sentence so that it has a similar meaning to the first, using the word given. Do not change the word given.

Strategy

💡The key word must NOT be changed in any way — no adding -s, -ed, -ing.

💡Identify the grammar being tested: passive, conditional, reported speech, phrasal verb, comparison, etc.

Common Mistakes

⚠️Count your words! The answer must be between 3 and 6 words including the key word.

⚠️Both sentences must have exactly the same meaning. Don't add or lose information.

⏱️About 12–15 minutes. Part 4 is often the hardest, so invest the time.
